David had a time
With a poor man’s lady
Bathsheba was her name.
Went not well, ’twas a shame!
He took Uriah right to the grave,
A good and a noble Hittite
Taken right out of the fight.
Nathan said, “You are the man!
Yeah, you took another man’s lamb!
So the sword won’t depart from you;
You can cry and whine but nothin’ you can do
To take the wrath of God away
Oh, it’s a comin’ on you some day! (11)
David said, “Oh no! It was I!
Took another man’s wife and did lie
With her and had a big time,
A poor man’s lady without a dime.
It was a crime. I’m such a slime” (13)
Nathan said, “Now the enemies of God can talk
Bad about God and at Him balk!” (14)
So the Lord struck the child of that widow (15)
Sometimes the product of sin has to go.
