Nine Daughters

Like Zeus, I had nine daughters
But mine were much more fair than his:
Mine were named in honor of our Lord
And His call for Christians to follow Him.
It is the Triune God, Father, Son, and Spirit
To whom all honor, service and worship is due.
All other gods are but the vain imaginings of men:
Idols good for nothing but fuel for a fire
To keep God’s people warm and in good comfort.
Elli – “My God”  the One and Only Whom we serve.
Jonas – a dove – reminds us of the peace the follows justice.
Epiphany – the manifestation of God through incarnation.
Beseda – a man jailed for saving babies by destroying “clinics.”
Mercy – relief from burdens!
Isaac –  okay! What joy to have two!  Press on!
Alethea – truth; stand by it!
Perseverance  – what one does when trials come.
Nicea – hold on to the basic truth (creeds).
Gethsemane – birthing a baby was the entry of the Savior for the world to see.
Petra – a rock-solid foundation is the Truth – Jesus and the Scriptures.

Good work, Jayne!
Zeus got nothin’ on me.  Mine follow Jesus. Lord, have mercy on his!
