Aunt Mary and Uncle Tune

(A memory from Paterson, New Jersey)

‘Twas in my teenage years;
We visited my Dad’s parents:
Called them Mema and Granddad.
Might have been only three of us:
Jamie, Jodie, and I.
She took us to a store somewhere in town
And said, “Get whatever you want!”
Oh, it was better than Christmas!
We walked and ran through the store
Picking up one thing after another!
It was Dream Greed unleashed;
Only limit was what we could carry!
Oh I can never forget Aunt Mary!
They never had any children;
Don’t know what they did in life,
But it’s a memory that stays with me
And brings a smile from time to time.
