Popularity or Glory?

In order to gain the respect of a plurality
One must sometimes disrespect a minority:
Those radicals which sometimes bring a stink
To a movement which depends upon numbers.
So it is and has always been on the course for the win.
Pursuit of victory sometimes competes with the love of truth.
It is glorious, that laurel crown, and we want to wear it.
Might even hide from the truth to get that glory.
We delight more in the latter than in the former.
Ah, but we will have to come to terms with Truth
When we meet Him who was scarred and quite ugly,
With no comely appearance to those with blurry vision.
But we who see clearly through the eyes of one enlightened
Have no need by shame and unpopularity to be frightened.
