Mad as a Dog with Rabies

(Isaiah 5:18f.)

See ’em killin’ those babies?
Mad as a dog with rabies!
They keep draggin’ that iniquity
Along with those cords of worthlessness.
Got themselves, sho’nough, in a mess.
“We want to see God DO something!”
Say the blind who missed the rising of the Son (18)
They can’t tell right from wrong! (20)
Singin’ about the darkness in their song,
Swappin’ that bitter for the sweet (20)
Gettin’ all drunk on that teat.
They think they got wit and might
Clever only in their own sight). (21)
Woe to those mixin’ that wine and strong drink; (22)
Your party surely gonna stink!
You set the wicked free for a bribe, (23)
Like some ruler of a pagan tribe!
So the anger of the Lord gonna burn; (25)
Might just be too late for you to turn
Strikin’ ’em down; corpses in the street.
Better reach out when you’re in that heat
Might be too late for you now;
Ah, but His hand is yet stretched out!
