Twelve Feet Long

Twelve feet long and eight feet high
Spans the painting on the wall;
Daughter Mercy made a tree of the family,
Children’s names on all the branches.
Quite a sight to behold as I sit
And think and pray about the day,
Thankful for the One who gave them to us;
Blessings, indeed, were they, unwanted.
Yeah, we had no wish for children,
Though we knew they were “gifts”
As says the very Word of God,
Right in that Book of truth that we love
Brought from above and spoken by the prophets.
But His goodness passes all understanding;
He knows what is good for us all.
His will for one is not the same for another
And we have to thank Him, whatever His call.
