Adoniah Surely Gonna Die Today.

1 K. 2:24-38
(6 Sept. at 0820 and 7 Sept. a.m. 2021)

“Adoniah surely gonna die today.”
Said Solomon, “I had my fill!”
“As for you, Abiathar, just wait awhile
I like the way you carried that ark (26)
And with my dad, all that misery.
So you’re fired and you can get on the run.” (27)
Well, the news got back to Joab;
He up and fled to the tent of the Lord. (28)
Grabbed the horns of the altar real tight; (28)
Oh, he was holdin’ on with all his might.
So the king sent the son of Jehoida. (29)
Said to Benaiah, “Go fall upon him.”
Well, he came up to Joab’s tent,
Said, “Yo got to come on out!” (30)
“No, no!” said Joab, “I wanna die in here.”
Then Benaiah reported so back to the king. (31)
Said, “Don’t want to hear any more o’ this thing.
Just let the blood flow down on his head!” (33)
So Benaiah went up an “fell on him” (34)
Which is to say he cut him up real good.
Yeah, the Lord did return his blood ”
Right down on his own damned head.
He killed a man named Abner and one, Amasa,
The commander of the army of Judah!
Now their blood shall fall on Joab’s head (33)
And the heads of his kin forever.
So Benaiah did a job on Joab, (34)
Gave that man a hell of a jab!
He was buried in the wilderness
And the king put Benaiah in his place. (35)
Zadok to the place of Abiathar
And the king sent and called for Shimei:
“You got to build a house in Jerusalem! (36)
Got to live there and go no where!
If you cross that book called Kidron,
You know for sure, you gonna die! (37)
I’m sayin’ that blood gonna be on your head!
So I’ll do what you want me to!” (38)
