The Plan of Hushai Was Bad

2 Sam. 17 & 18

Hushai contradicted Ahithophel (17:7)
But the plan of Hushai was bad
And the Lord had trouble in line
By the counsel of Ahithophel to come.
The Lord had a plan for Absalom;
Calamity was on its way. (14)
“Don’t spend the night in these fords. (16)
Got on over to the other side!”
Well, Jonathan was hangin’ out at En-rogel
And to David a maid was to go and tell, (17)
But a lad did see them and ratted them out (18)
Said right out, “They crossed the ‘brooks of water’!” (20)
Well, they came up out o’ that well and said, “Arise!
We got to cross that river right quick!”
Well, they made it across by dawn (22)
‘Bout as quick as you could cross a lawn
Ahithophel saw his counsel was ignored,
Strangled himself  ’cause he couldn’t be adored. (23)
Well, David came up to Mahanaim; (24)
Shobi brought some pottery, beds, and flour, (28)
And the time came for that warfare hour. (18:2)
But the people said, “You ain’t goin’ out! (3)
We need you way back in the city.”
“You need me?” said he. “What a pity!
But if it seems good to you, I will do
Whatever it is that you want me to.” (4)
