David Comforted Bathsheba

(2 Sam 12:24f)

David comforted Bathsheba
And along came a boy, Samuel,
Had a nickname Jedidiah.  (25)
Meanwhile Joab fought against Rabbah
And they captured that royal city. (26)
Took the crown right off he king’s head
My oh, my, ‘Twas a pity! (30)
Must have been awfully gory
But turned out for David’s glory. (30)
Gathered up the spoil o’ that city;
For the conquered, ’twas quite a pity.
Worked those folks with axes and saws
And put them under God and His laws. (31)
Sometimes there ain’t nothin’ to it
But to get right down and just do it!
Now Absalom, the son of David
Loved a cousin by the name of Tamar (13:1)
So he worked out a plan with Jonadab
To get the woman to come to bed. (5)
