“He” not “They”

A whole generation of American Anglophones is aborting English grammar with its deferential us of the
plural “they” to reference a (singular) person.  Yes, “person” is singular and properly (grammatically speaking) referenced by “he” – not “they.”

It is apparent that this capitulation is a product of a compliant effort to make peace with the sex liberationists who reject any social role differences among sexes.  There can be no preference for the male gender in language!  Equality!  “He” may not substitute for a person!  (That person might be a female!)  So, rather than use the singular generic “he” the ungrammatical plural – “they” – is employed to appease the “offendees.”

Sacrifice grammar to appease these “offendees”?

I think not.  Best to stick with grammar.  It is been around longer than feminism, and will, indeed, outlive it.
