Shepherds and Sheep

How Does a Shepherd Shepherd his Sheep?
He moves them in a particular direction,
For a particular purpose.
It may be to escape bad weather;
It may be to find better ground to graze.

He looks out for predators and defeats them,
Or he leads the sheep away from them.
He does more than give them a weekly pep-talk.
He is tuned-in to whatever threats may beset them.
He spends time with them and knows them.

Do the elders know their sheep?
Have they had them in their barns?
Have they guided them with a touch of the cane?
By hospitality they’ll get that gain.
