Michelle Phillips

American singer, songwriter and an actress, Michelle Phillips is known as a member of the pop group “The Mamas and the Papas,” composed of her husband John Phillips, along with Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty. She is the second child of Joyce Leon (Poole), an accountant and Gardner Burnett Gilliam, a merchant marine. Phillips’s mother died when she was five. Besides her musical career, she made her film debut in 1971 with “The Last Movie,” starring Dennis Hopper. Phillips publicly protested the Iraq war and stated her belief that president George W. Bush and vice president Dick Cheney ought to be investigated for war crimes. Additionally, Phillips is an advocate for the legalization of marijuana.

Michelle Phillips has been married five times. She married her first husband John Phillips in 1962 at the age of 18; with whom she co-founded the vocal group The Mamas and The Papas. These two met in San Francisco when Michelle was modeling and John was touring with his band Journeyman. Michelle and John are the parents of singer Chynna Phillips, who was born in 1965. The couple divorced in 1969.

Phillips then married Dennis Hopper in 1970 which only remained for 8 days. After her second divorce, Michelle got married to Robert S. Burch in 1978 and divorced in 1982. She then married Grainger Hines and has two sons, Austin Hines, and Aron Wilson. But unfortunately, this marriage couldn’t last long and they decided to end it. There is no information on their marriage and divorced date.

Michelle is currently living with her fifth husband Steven Zax with whom she tied the knot in 2000. She is the stepmother of actress Mackenzie Phillips and grandmother of Jamison Baldwin.

Lyrics for “California Dreamin'”:

All the leaves are brown
And the sky is grey
I went for a walk
On a winter’s day
I’d be safe and warm
If I was in L.A.
California dreamin’
On such a winter’s day

I stopped into a church (stopped into a church)
I passed along the way (passed along the way)
You know, I got down on my knees (got down on my knees)
And I pretend to pray (I pretend to pray)
Oh, the preacher likes the cold (preacher likes the cold)
He knows I’m gonna stay (knows I’m gonna stay)
Oh, California dreamin’ (California dreamin’)
On such a winter’s day

We all, eventually, have our hubris (along with our grammar) corrected.  Hopefully, it happens before we face Him on Judgment Day.  Don’t mock God or His Church or holy matrimony.  Repent, bow to Jesus, pick a (Trinitarian!) church of your choice, get on with a sanctified life, and prepare to meet the Savior and Judge of the world.
