Scandals
Perhaps the greatest scandal of our time is the toleration of abortion as a legalized “procedure” by all the churches of God for nigh on five decades. The second may be the failure of churches to excommunicate their practicing sodomites, and the third may be the retention of Joe Biden’s membership in the Roman Catholic Church.
It is difficult sometimes to rate scandals in accordance with their respective gravities, but perhaps the best way to measure the depth of depravity is to consider what type of offense is most displeasing to the Almighty. What, say the Scriptures, does He especially hate.
One may think, for example, of such nasty actions as child-rape, mutilation of body parts, and sodomitical actions. The Scriptures highlight seven things that God hates (Prov. 6: 16-19). They are 1) Pride; 2) Lies; 3) the shedding of innocent blood; 4) the planning of evil; 5) the eager carrying out of evil deeds; 6) lying testimony against another; 7) the sewing of discord among friends.
All but the first are specific to social sins, i.e. offenses against others. You may sin against God. You may do wrong to yourself. But He especially hates sin by one person against another.
What is abortion but an most despicable sin against another?
And yet, Joe Biden, one who praises this sin as a “right,” is tolerated and retained as a member in good standing with the “Holy Roman Catholic Church”?
Consider, additionally, that this offender is not a regular church member, but one of influence over the whole nation and the whole world.
What responsibility have those are his superiors in “the church”?
Is there a scandal of a higher order?
