Author of A Time To Kill

A Noble Woman

She was an ambitious girl
And I, condescending,
Took up her pleas
And we did marry.
On we went from my stage
To stage children aplenty
And many were the blessings
They brought us.
But much holier is she
Than the pious “me.”
Set apart was I
For His business – the Word.
She took up the call to union
Of man and woman for life,
That office of divine institution,
And she bore and reared
Those children eleven
By whom the world is bettered
I am quite sure
And by His Word they endure.
