“So arise and let us flee!
He gonna bring on us some calamity,
Take that sword and strike the city!

“Behold, your servants are ready!
We’re with you, keepin’ it steady” (15)
Well, the king was in a real bind;

There were Cherethites, Pelethites
And Gittites, too:
Six-hundred men from a place called Gath. (18)
So the king said to Ittai, the Gittite,
“Hey!\u00a0 You ain’t got to be in this fight! (19)
Go on! Take care o’ your family!
Mercy and truth be with thee!” (20)
But Ittai was a straight up friend;
Stuck with David right to the end:
“Surely,” said he, “I’m ‘o be with thee! (21)
I’m in!\u00a0 Can’t get rid of me!” (21)
“Alright,” said Dave, “Go and pass over (22)
