Might pick up a spear and go to war
Or stay with the baggage
And sleep by the door
So was the statute for the men of Israel
That the spoils of the war went to Bethel
And those in Ramath and even Jattir
Shared all the goods and didn’t shed a tear.
It was Judgment Day for all those pagan nations!
That’s the say of the Lord and His sensations.
He goes big with wrath and makes nations small
‘Specially those with no sense to worship at all!
Now up against them were the Philistines
Wiped out the men of Israel down to their teens.
Even Saul’s armor-bearer turned to suicide
When he saw him dead he likewise died.
Three sons and an armor-bearer along with Saul
Wanted not the grave at the end of it all.
The stripped off his weapons and cut off his head
To spread the good news and bring on the dread
Yeah, they pinned Saul’s body right to a wall!
But in Jabesh-gilead some valiant men
