Long ago, traveling about quasi hippy
I happened upon Chios
An isle of the Greeks.
It was breezy and warm,
The ocean was calm,
Lots of fun on the run
Just traveling around and listening
To the wind and waves,
Lots of water and caves
Where the fish would wander.
And how I loved the air and water,
No son, wife or daughter.
It is was I alone and the world.
Now, some five decades thence
I read of that place – Chios.
Not so pleasant it was way back
In the day when slaves were not black.
All colors were taken for trade,
“A clearing house for slaves” says Durant
Purchasing boys of which to make eunuchs.
What a time, what a place!
But Drimachus arose from among them –
The sleepers of men.\u00a0 He was other.
He led his fellows in glorious revolt
And defeated all armies against him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
