In Presbyterian ecclesiastical circles, the term is a familiar one.\u00a0 It is the name given to the ruling body of elders of a church.\u00a0\u00a0 But “the session” also references a Christological tenet contained in and recited regularly from The Creed.\u00a0 “He is seated at the right hand of the Father.\u00a0 From thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead . . . “<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We often speak of the Crucifixion and the Resurrection – those essential actions which accomplish our salvation from sin and death. And yet, we live today and everyday under his “session.” He reigns with the Father, seated<\/em> above all powers. The Spirit moves among us and the world is under His rule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Devil, defeated, is permitted his role to pester us as a\ncontribution to God’s plan to sanctify His people in reformation of the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Do you believe in the Session? He sits. \nHe reigns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In Presbyterian circles, the title is given to the ruling\nelders in the government of the church, \nbut as a Christological doctrine, it is not commonly heard in Christian\nparlance. It ought to be!<\/p>\n\n\n\n The crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth\nare facts<\/em>. The ascension was less public though it was\nobserved by a crowd of His followers and, as such, it was a public event. But the session of Christ was not something\nwe see directly. The evidence of his\nreign is in the His Church. And it is\nour duty as members of it to make His session visible to the world.
