Shane Claiborne calls for defiance, civil disobedience.\u00a0 He appeals to the Scriptures as his authority (ostensibly), declaring the Law of God above the civil authorities.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hmm.  I am familiar with\nthe concept:  that law, true law, comes\nfrom God.   And all human law is\nrightfully judged by His Law.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, Shane, which Law of God is violated by the wall\nbuilding?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t know.  Which\nleaves us to suppose that he<\/em> is the\nauthority who would “tear down the walls” which our government would\nbuild to protect its borders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In many cases borders between nations are protected by large\nwater ways or impassable (or, at least, formidable) mountain ranges.   When such natural barriers are missing and\ncitizenship is violated and invaded, other measures are required to protect\ncitizens from those who would usurp the rights and privileges of\ncitizenship.  Theft is the issue.  Do we oppose theft?  Do we protect ourselves from thieves?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the government awakens and attempts to strengthen its\nborder security, on what authority would Clairborne defy such lawful actions?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do not speak as one who believes that the laws or nations\nare infallible or never beyond  justified\ndefiance.  (My record is clear on the matter.)  And I defy a government’s unjust actions per\nthe example of manstealing in connection with the 19th century defiance of\nslave trading in America.   I support full and forceful defiance of\nmanstealing and the subsequent trading in the same.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And today, I support full defiance of child-murder, a.k.a.\n“abortion,” by any means necessary. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Folks of my persuasion, whether of the forceful or peaceful\nvariety, have not been featured as hospitably by the WNJ as has this\n“social activist.”  And,\ngranted, we have no abortuaries to protest in Wilmington – thanks be to God – but we do\nhave lives being saved daily at the local\nNew Life Clinic<\/em>.  Plenty of news,\ngood and bad, there to report!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But neither have we a wall in Wilmington keeping Mexicans out.  (I love dining at local restaurants.)   So why are we treated to a “social\nactivist” call to support those violating our Mexican border over there in\nTexas?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
