{"id":1768,"date":"2015-02-11T21:22:25","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T02:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/michaelbray.org\/?p=1768"},"modified":"2015-02-17T19:33:13","modified_gmt":"2015-02-18T00:33:13","slug":"60-minutes-and-lutherans-cacn-spr-1999","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/michaelbray.org\/?p=1768","title":{"rendered":"60 Minutes and Lutherans (CACN Spr 1999)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Posted on 12 February, 2015<\/p>\n<p>The following is a summary of the <em>Capitol Area Christian News<\/em>, published in the Spring of 1999.\u00a0 The complete copy is available for download at link at the end of this page.<\/p>\n<p>The feature article report on\u00a0&#8220;The Minister&#8217;s Blessing,&#8221; the lead\u00a0<strong><em>60 Minutes<\/em><\/strong> story\u00a0with Dan Rather\u00a0aired\u00a0on 14 April, 1999.\u00a0\u00a0 Rather&#8217;s story\u00a0included a visit to our Sunday church service and a visit with a local apostate Lutheran church pastor, Richard Dowhower (ELCA).\u00a0 We reported upon the\u00a0spiritual\/theological condition of the major\u00a0Lutheran (and all the main line denominational) churches in contrast to those churches and associations of the same which have upheld the historic and orthodox view of the authority of the Scriptures.\u00a0 Finally, we recount the origins of <strong>Reformation Lutheran Church<\/strong>, which was pastured by Michael Bray and Michael Colvin from 1984 until the Summer of 2003 (pp. 1-3).<\/p>\n<p>In &#8220;<strong>Radical Fringe<\/strong>&#8221; news . . .<\/p>\n<p>We offer sound biblical arguments for <em>moderating<\/em> our joy in the death of the wicked (abortionists, in this context).\u00a0 You read it right.\u00a0 We are not to be <em>too<\/em> happy when the wicked are dispatched (p. 3).<\/p>\n<p>We report on one <strong>Eric Schaff<\/strong>, the\u00a0would-be-benevolent\u00a0abortionist, who continues to be in the news over the decades.\u00a0 (see 2013 report here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/planned-parenthood-with-history-of-botched-abortion-wants-to-teach-medical\">https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/planned-parenthood-with-history-of-botched-abortion-wants-to-teach-medical<\/a> ) (pp. 3, 4).<\/p>\n<p>We remember <strong>Don Benny Anderson<\/strong>, in prison, at that time since 1982 &#8211; 17 years.\u00a0 He was released\u00a0September 11, 2007.\u00a0 That is 25 years plus the probation until death do him part (p. 4).<\/p>\n<p>With great levity and joy, we muse over incongruous propositions, viz. the spiritual &#8220;gift of plundering&#8221; (p. 4).<\/p>\n<p>We then take up the subject of <strong>Robert E. Cook<\/strong>, sentenced to 176 months for . . . ? Well, it is hard so say.\u00a0 Robbing an armored truck and threatening an abortuary (pp. 4, 5)?<\/p>\n<p>Another example of\u00a0baptizing\u00a0criminal activity was displayed in bank robbers <strong>Ratigan<\/strong>, <strong>Merrell<\/strong>, <strong>Barbee<\/strong>, and <strong>Berry<\/strong>, who used their loot to bomb a Planned Parenthood abortuary (p. 5).<\/p>\n<p>Lovely reports on abortionist shortages following all the unfriendly-to-abortionist activities cropping up around the country (p. 5).<\/p>\n<p>Report from Pennsylvania on <strong>Douglas Mahady<\/strong> indicted for making a bomb threat against an abortuary in York (p. 6).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Louis Powell<\/strong> went to hell, perhaps, according to a report in the local Petersburg, Virginia paper.\u00a0 Powell was one of those\u00a0Justices who cast a vote for <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Fr. <strong>Pavone<\/strong>&#8216;s denunciation of those who use force to save babies is denounced (pp. 6, 7).<\/p>\n<p><strong>James Dobson<\/strong>\u00a0shames himself by\u00a0allowing <strong>Jeff Hooten<\/strong> to denigrate Paul Hill\u00a0in his <em>Citizen<\/em> magazine. Hooten made no effort to make a fair inquiry into the\u00a0person and character of Paul Hill (p. 7).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Robert Keith Hill<\/strong> dies \u00a0in an attempt to blow up an abortuary in Lubbock, Texas (pp. 7, 10).<\/p>\n<p>Canadian, <strong>Ronald Wylie<\/strong>, is arrested for sending fake bomb packages to abortuaries.\u00a0 Excellent psychological warfare.\u00a0 We evaluate the usual criticism (pp. 10,11).<\/p>\n<p>In &#8220;<strong>Notes<\/strong>&#8221; . . .<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0express condolences with the families of\u00a0those whose 13 students were aborted in Colorado (p. 8)<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Foreign Policy, which supports Muslim factions when they are at odds with Christian, is brought into question: the Balkans, Africa,\u00a0Indonesia.\u00a0 We mention <strong>Fort Hood<\/strong> and a report in the <em>Washington Times<\/em> (13 May, 1999) which noted that &#8220;More than 40 witches, male and female, celebrated the rite of Spring at Fort Hood on March 20.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Well, wonder what made that pious Muslim indignant enough to go on a killing rampage ten years later on November 5, 2009.\u00a0\u00a0 Polytheistic paganism was surely not reduced in the &#8220;richness&#8221; of its &#8220;diversity&#8221; of gods and moralities by 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In consideration of the President&#8217;s (then, <strong>Clinton<\/strong>), uh, <em>problem, <\/em>we make an argument for castration for the sake of the Union and the prevent future adulteries (p. 9).<\/p>\n<p>We contend for revisitation of the Tenth Amendment and the principles of local sovereignty, self-government of municipalities, calling to mind the life of Judge Jonathan Winthrop in 1630 (pp. 8, 9).<\/p>\n<p><strong>American Medical Association<\/strong> writes a letter to Neal <strong>Horsley<\/strong>, demanding that he remove a link from his web site to their website.\u00a0 Yeah! Horsley was blasting them for their support of abortion and they thought it ought not be allowed that he refer people to their site where such support for abortion was in evidence (p. 9).<\/p>\n<p>Jonathan <strong>O&#8217;Toole<\/strong>&#8216;s poem, &#8220;Wisdom&#8217;s Cry,&#8221; derived from Proverbs 31:8 (p. 9).<\/p>\n<p>Move on!\u00a0 The issue of hour is no longer &#8220;race.&#8221; That wrong has been righted and re-righted to the bizarre extent of &#8220;affirmative action.&#8221; Get with the most glaring current problem: child-slaughter (pp. 9,\u00a010).<\/p>\n<p>Unrepentant lesbian-abortionist Elizabeth Karlin dies leaving lover, Anne Topham, behind (p. 10).<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0note the short-sighted\u00a0proclamation\u00a0by <strong>Lutherans for Life<\/strong> of &#8220;repulsion&#8221;\u00a0in response to Bray in\u00a0the <strong>60 Minutes<\/strong> special (p. 10).<\/p>\n<p>A series of fictional stories about James R.
