During my ten-year sentence (subsequently reversed and negotiated to six years), William Buckley’s National Review<\/em> was\u00a0a regular main meal in literary fare.\u00a0 A highlight in that publication was Sobran’s essay, “Pensees,” which appeared in December, 1985.\u00a0 (By no means is the assumption of the Renaissance writer’s title a presumption.) Having a “job” in the library, I was able type the\u00a0excerpts that I copied into a notebook\u00a0 from various readings during my “free time” back at\u00a0my cell block.\u00a0\u00a0 The excerpted sections from\u00a0that essay are scanned and posted here.\u00a0 The errors in type\u00a0are\u00a0due to defections in both the prison library’s typewriter and the typist.<\/p>\n
