Need Ike to Cut That Lawn
Need to get Ike back on the lawn;
Got to get that grass cuttin’ on.
The boy is down right necessary;
Can’t go find a girl to marry!
We need him here all his life
Can’t have him out findin’ a wife!
“O Lord, help us find a way
The grass is growin’ every day!
Send that boy to us right fast
To give us some peace at last!
Soon it’ll be up to the knee
With bugs an’ critters singin’ merrily!
Bring that lad to give us some joy;
Waitin’ for a lawn cut and that boy
But the Lord said, “No!
I want you to go
And cut that grass by yourself!
If you want to stay wise
You need that exercise!
Got to move your body like your mouth,
Lest your health take a road south.”
So I said, “Okay, have it your way,
But can it wait for another day?”
