Uzziah Was Enraged

2 Chron 26:16-28:3

The priests of the Lord were valiant men
Under the rule of the prideful Uzziah
Who gallfully entered the temple
The place where only priests could go.
Swiftly, they went after that intruder:
“Not for you to burn incense!” they charged.
Right in after him those men of God barged: (18)
“You’ve been unfaithful and have no honor!”
Uzziah with a censer in hand was “enraged”;
Had him a mission and wouldn’t be delayed.
Instead of shamed – Oh my! No, no!
Was struck with leprosy from head to toe!
And stayed a leper ’til the day of his death; (21)
Lived alone where no one smelled his breath.
Then Jotham took his place at twenty-five (27:1)
A descent king with a momma named Jerushah.
Did right like his daddy, Uzziah, (2)
But stayed out of the temple like a secularist,
So the people went bad and pissed
All over the Law and won the rule of Ahaz!
A really rotten ruler, to be sure;
Hung up on that molten image lure; (28:2)
Loved those Baals like the kings of Israel;
Even burned his own sons in the fire! (3)
O this king was downright sick!
Get a dirty boot for him to lick!
