David Defeated Hadadezer

(2 Sam 8 and 9)

David defeated Hadadezer
Son of Rehob, king of Zobah
To restore his rule of the river. (8:3)
Captured 20,000 foot soldiers,
Yeah, he was quite the manager!
Hamstrung those chariot horses
Except for the hundred he needed. (v. 4)
Oh a war-like spirit he seeded
In those loyal men, his servants!
Their faithful courage we adore
Forever and forever more.
Yeah, he took those shields of gold (v. 7)
And brought ’em right back home.
Then he dedicated all to the Lord, (v. 11)
The stuff from the nations he had stored
From Aram, Moab, and the sons of Ammon. (v. 12)
Rebels from anywhere he wasn’t havin’!
Killed 18,000 Arameans in the valley of Salt (v. 13)
And to any rebels he put a halt!
Justice and righteousness he brought to all (v. 15)
And he wanted to help the house of Saul. (9:1)
