We Ready Ourselves

Against that time
When life falls short
Must we steady ourselves
With the knowledge
That the One who came
And saved our souls
Does not sleep nor slumber.
Ever shall we remain in the number
That He Himself has called from the start.
‘Twas always His plan to impart
To us that light, the knowledge of Him
Who came for us no on some whim
But by purposes divine long ago
That each of His chosen would know
The way, the truth, and the life.
Ours is to press on unending
In our obedience and sending
The same convictions to our offspring
That they, too, His praise may sing.
