I Will Follow You, Ooh!

Tomlin’s “I Will Follow You”

“Who you love, I’ll love
How you serve, I’ll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow you
I will follow you”

“Whom you love, I’ll love”!  is correct.  Puullllleaaase!  I can’t enjoy the song because of the sloppy error.

Every time I hear the song I want to cry out, “Error!”  And “Get your grammar together before you produce a song!”

Drives a fellow to distraction when he is trying to praise the Lord.  Mercy! Lord, grant our musicians decent grammar!

Picayunish, I may admit, but it is a also a matter of basic orthography.  It seems to me that folks who go to the trouble and magnificence of disk producing ought to get such things straight.  But, having failed – What to do?  Well, make it a sermon illustration on the continued harassment that sin and imperfection inflicts upon the our race.  We press on redeemed, but ever afflicted with faults, foibles, and outright rebellion.
